Why I love The Honest Company with A Quick Review!

So I read about this company when a picture of Jessica Alba caught my eyes in the latest issue Costco Connection. I immediately went to their website and placed an order! Here's why. As briefly mentioned in my last post, I started to play with recipes for home-made body butter and lip balm. This is not because I wanted to make crafty gifts or to start selling lotions on Etsy; it was out of pure necessity! My husband is allergic to almost everything, and I literally could not find any good natural products within my price range. So when I saw all the clearly labeled products displayed beautiful on Honest.com, I had to click "buy" lol.

My first order only contained bath and body products because that's all that I was seeking. I then received $20 in referral credit, so I decided to try some of the cleaning products in my second order. Since I haven't tried everything, and might still continue to make some home-made alternatives, I'm just going to give a quick review of the items that I am absolutely IN LOVE with and will buy over and over again!

-Shampoo/Body Wash: Great lather/clean, gentle enough for my face. Now also available at Costco.
-Conditioner: The BEST conditioner I have ever used!!! Period!
-Laundry pods: Awesome, cleaned as well as Tide Pods.
-Dish pods: I am in shock at how sparkly my glasses are, works as well as Finish all-in-one.
-Sun block: The only sunblock that I can use on my face without breaking out!
-Toothpaste: Yes, I have tried the toothpaste that came out 3 days ago lol; I ordered it as soon as I heard of the news. I have been looking for an alternative to Tom's (Tom's tastes funny to me), and this is perfect!!!

Now onto the cost because we all know how frugal I am lol. I don't want to do any specific brand comparisons because I know even the most similar people will have bathrooms filled with completely different brands of products. So I just wanted to share how I analyzed my last purchase from The Honest Company:
I made a bundle at $35.95 with enough small additions to bump the total above $50 for free shipping. Then I looked at the items in that $50 purchase and tried to price the name-brand alternatives I would typically settle for (Burt's Bee, Tide, Cascade, Neutrogena). When I added the total of the alternatives and compared it to my bundle, I was saving about 30%! Depending what brand you are using now, you might be able to save a lot more! Make sure you bundle items that cost the most for the highest saving.

Lastly, I have to talk about how beautiful the products are! I mean, finally, products I can proudly display on my vanity, dresser, or the kitchen counter. By the way, my favorite color is turquoise, so it's safe to say that I'm pretty much obsessed with The Honest Company! lol.

products I have purchased, seating area in my home office, my favorite purse and watch. I love turquoise lol.

Hi

I can't believe it's been so long since I last blogged, time just goes by way too fast. I hate making excuses and justify for my lack of writing, but to call the cause of my absence a family emergency is an understatement. I did not want to burden the world of my hard times these past months, and wanted to handle my stress and emotions with the only medicine I know never fails...time. Today, I feel much better than usual. I can't identify the exact reason, but I felt compelled to write about it.

Throughout past months, I tried my best to stay busy so I would not have the time to think so deep into everything. Aside from working more hours, I sought out many other activities. I started a little garden in my backyard, which was stressful but rewarding at the same time. I then went to Martha Stewart's website and literally tried as many recipes/ideas my schedule would allow. One of the best turn-out of all my recreations was from this home made lip balm tutorial. From there, as one can guess, I also made other related creations such as body butters and perfume oils. It truly was a great experience, and I think everyone should at least try it! It was easy, all natural, and so much cheaper than buying all those chemicals-in-a-bottle! I had a lot of fun playing with recipes and will share some of my own at a later post. Anyway, in addition to picking up new hobbies, I decided to pick up an old hobby as well. I decided to go to a local feed store...and picked up four adorable baby chicks!!!!! When I was growing up in China, my mom would get baby chicks most summers, but because we lived in the city, we would always be forced to give them away when they got big. But my aunt lived in a different province, and every time I went to see her, she would serve us fresh eggs from the chickens in her back yard, and that was 17 years ago.

Newest addition to our family; meet Sweet Pea, Baby Doll, Rocket, and Vanessa Hudgens.
Maybe it's the simple concept of watching something grow that is bringing me more joy each day, or maybe joy is the side effect from a small sense of accomplishment, either one works for me. So I guess I'll have plenty to blog about for the near foreseeable future lol.
